AdVENTURE Blogs created by Students AdVENTURE creates blogs that are like newsletters created by an elective called Digital Journalism taught by Miss Samantha McMillan. We are now doing blogs for each group's articles. This is provided by Google's Blogger service and we are currently trying it out. We think we're going to just do this instead of making an official newsletter each week. Thanks, | Phone: 408.226.1886 AdVENTURE is a 5th-8th school of choice program located on the Herman Intermediate campus. We are part of the Oak Grove School District in south San Jose, CA. We have four teachers, and at times, collaborate with Herman for math, PE and electives. We have a maximum enrollment of 140 students. See the Images section for these images at a slower rate. Parent Involvement: HABLA Group – Hispanic parent group that meets the first Wednesday of the month at 7pm to discuss topics and seminars related to the school environment. Cyber Bullying, A-G requirements, Health and Safety.
Koffee Klatch Group – African American parent group that meets five times a year to celebrate and recognize African American student achievements. Harvest Feast, Kwanza Celebration, HLC Night, Family Games Night, etc.
School Site Council – Committee elected to oversee the SIP budget and make decisions for improving all students’ academic achievement. Elections take place in September. SSC meets five times a year a 6pm on the third Thursday.
Parent Faculty Club/PFC – Parent group who facilitates events around campus and coordinates fund raising. PFC meets every month on the third Thursday at 7pm

Looking forward to next year
Whooping Cough
All students entering 7th grade MUST get either the whooping cough shot or a waiver. Students who do NOT have confirmation of the shot will not be allowed to start school in the fall.
This year students will be following the Herman bell schedule but will have core teachers and will also have a block schedule; school will start at 8:05 and end at 2:30 but on Wednesday, school starts at 9:20 and end at 2:30. In addition, we will be collaborating more closely with Herman on math and PE. As per your request and feedback, there are 2 documents below. The first is a side-by-side comparision of AdVENTURE to traditional middle-school. The second is a document listing the changes that will occur at AdVENTURE next year.
We wanted to thank you for your feedback which helped us in identifying what changes needed to be made.
Also, please remember that the school of choice deadline is March 31st. If you have not let us know whether or not your student will continue at AdVENTURE, please let us know by that date.
