Makerspace

Our makerspace is always in need of tools and items for students to work with. If you would like to look at some of what we need and perhaps make a donation, please visit our Amazon Wishlist.

Our mission is to engage all students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through relevant, rigorous curriculum so they will be responsible, active, global citizens in the digital age. AdVENTURE has a culture of high expectations where students form safe and strong relationships with teachers, peers, families, and the community.  Enrollment at AdVENTURE is open to students of all ability levels who enjoy hands-on instruction and project based learning with a focus towards life and work in the 21st century*.

Our students:
  • Prefer a hands-on learning environment over lectures
  • Like to build things or work on the computer
  • Prefer to talk about what he/she is doing.
  • Like to interact with others
  • Like to figure out how things work.

We belong to the Oak Grove School District, forming part of Herman Intermediate School, located at:
5955 Blossom Avenue, San Jose, CA 95123

*Please note that our students work in an interdisciplinary project based learning environment. This means that a project assigned in Science may have components being worked on in Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, and even the grade level STEM electives. Because of this, it is NOT possible for a student to attend a different class in any of the subject areas at Herman Intermediate. For example, a 6th grade student will take 6th grade Common Core Math within his/her grade level AdVENTURE cohort, regardless of whether he/she has already taken this course at a different school.

Herman/AdVENTURE Makerspace is open!
